Uke+Drums=Love
Ben is about to finish up recording on his 6th studio album! This newest output from Ben Carr Music is (as the title implies) a fusion of his two musical passions, the ‘ukulele and the drums. Uke+Drums=Love is a three part album. The first involves just the ‘ukulele, including solo compositions, single take loop pedal infused songs, and arrangements that involve 2-3 uke over dubs. The second features just the drum and percussion instruments, including drum set duets and full percussion ensembles involving both afro-cuban and middle eastern instruments. Ukulele Jazz Ensemble Classes begin in Feb!
That’s right! A new round of Uke Jazz Ensemble begins on Feb. 6, at the Vermont Jazz Center, located in the Cotton Mill, Brattleboro, VT. This 10 week class will cover a number of jazz standards and work through a variety of strum patterns & chord shapes, melody playing, and how to improvise a solo. New Music Book Available
Yes! Ben’s first music book is near completion and will be available in early December! (Just in time for holiday gift giving 🙂 You can pre-order at the Music Store The Ben Carr Music Songbook is an instruction manual with seven of Ben’s ukulele compositions and arrangements, which been notated and tabbed for your learning enjoyment. There are comments included with each song containing tips and suggestions on the musical approach to the chord/melody arrangements, strumming, and fingerpicking styles associated with each piece. Vermont Ukulele Harvest, Oct. 14
Saturday, October 14th, is the first Vermont Ukulele Harvest!! The event takes place at Main Street Arts in Saxtons River, VT, and is a full day uke intensive with workshops, jams, a catered lunch, an open mic, and an evening concert. Uke Extravaganza
Join two of Vermont’s finest ukulele players for an evening dedicated to the joys of playing and listening to the friendly little stringed instrument. Led by seasoned musicians Ben Carr and Jake Geppert, the evening will feature a beginners’ workshop, a performance and an open jam session. All are welcome to participate! Have a uke? Bring it!
