Great weekend of recording with the BCMP.   We recorded in a live studio setting, with the vocals and percussion being overdubbed.   The tracks sound sweet and tight.   All original compositions ranging from two step swing to reggae, blugrass to bembe, and some solo 'ukulele too!
Many events happening this month..... click over to the events page to learn more.

Exciting happenings about in this month.   Firstly:   On Sunday, Jan. 27,  I am hosting an 'Ukulele Workshop at Main St. Arts in Saxtons River, VT.   The workshop runs from 10 am - 2:30 pm (with 1/2 hr lunch break)  and is geared toward the beginner and intermediate player.  Visit  http://mainstreetarts.org  and contact them to register for this event.    Secondly:  Is a recording session this week with the Milkhouse Heaters (acoustic guitar, bass, me on drums).   Check them out at: https://www.facebook.com/themilkhouseheaters?fref=ts    The music has a catchy two-step jazz and rock vibe while being lyrically driven.  I'm really pshyched to be playing them.     Thirdly:   The BCMP is set to record in late March!   I'm really amped to put down some BCMP standards and  also feeling inspired to finish up some half composed ideas for possible tracks on the session.    'Unyeilding'  will be the title track.  Check the video page for a sample of 'Unyielding'.

September 24, 2012
The busy summer has gently eased into this wonderful autumn.   My gig schedule was not as busy as previous years, but quite rewarding and enjoyable.  The Ben Carr Music Project had some great performances  --  Thanks for your support!!    This Sept. is also bringing a number of new music education opportunities. It's a fantastic honor to be able to share this knowledge and instill in others the joy that music offers.
Thanks for visiting my site and keep in touch.

The past few months have seen me involved with another ensemble through the Open Music Collective, which has prompted me to do some more woodshedding on the drumset.... not to mention the consistent woodshedding on the 'ukulele and tabla.   As always, this ensemble experience really pushes (and makes me think about) my musical abilities and relationships with the musicians I'm playing with.   Tonight is our final performance.
My first year of the James Hill 'Ukulele Initiative (teacher certification) is also coming to a close as I prepare my portfolio for presentation.  In August I will begin Level 2.
Video page coming soon to the website, but for now check them out on Facebook -- footage from the Ben Carr Music Project on "Valley Homegrown".   Or search YouTube for BenCarrMusic.

The band performed a TV gig for 'Valley Homegrown' on GCTV last week.   The video turned out good and I should have some clips up soon.   Feb. was full of great gigs, including a rare Mo Ambesa winter show at Magic Mtn!!    Thanks to all those Mo fans who showed support!   Not many gigs booked for March.   Looking forward to spring coming soon......

Feb. 11, 2012
It's been a busy couple of months --  gigging, booking, refining the press kits and bio, and getting the band nice and tight.   I'm also on a creative writing spree.....    whew!!   Lots of good stuff.     And I just started tabla lessons!     January was the first meeting of the Southern Vermont 'Ukulele Society.   We'll continue to meet the last sunday of every month.   Thanks for checking out the new website, and come back often.
